Local culture and lifestyle briefing is a personalized orientation service that introduces students to cultural values, social etiquette, daily life practices, and local community expectations in Switzerland (or other study destinations). The session also includes practical tips on food, shopping, leisure activities, and social interaction.
Cultural understanding is key to successful integration and positive experiences abroad. Knowing local norms helps you avoid misunderstandings, build meaningful connections, and feel more confident in everyday situations.
This service is delivered by SIMI Swiss’s student affairs team and local StudyAbroader cultural advisors. All facilitators have deep knowledge of local traditions and extensive experience supporting international students.
You should participate in the briefing shortly after arrival and before fully engaging in social or community activities. Early preparation ensures smoother adaptation and greater comfort in your new surroundings.
Culture and lifestyle briefings are offered in person at SIMI Swiss campuses or partner offices, and online through live sessions for remote learners or those who want to prepare in advance.
Students join interactive sessions that include presentations, group discussions, and Q&A on cultural dos and don’ts, communication styles, and local lifestyle practices. You’ll receive written guides, local resource lists, and practical scenarios to help you feel confident navigating social situations and daily life.
Local culture and lifestyle briefing is designed to help SIMI Swiss students integrate smoothly into the local community, enhance cultural understanding, and support personal and social adaptation.
The service includes culture and lifestyle briefings, practical tips, and social etiquette guidance. However, continuous personal cultural mentoring or accompaniment in daily activities is not included.
Cultural briefing services do not involve academic certification or affect qualification recognition.
SIMI Swiss does not guarantee the recognition of its qualifications or programs by any third parties, including but not limited to governments, ministries of education, licensing bodies, or other educational institutions in any jurisdiction. Recognition decisions are made solely at the discretion of such third parties and are beyond the control of SIMI Swiss.
SIMI Swiss, StudyAbroader, and their partners are not liable for personal or social challenges arising from cultural misunderstandings, student actions, or external factors beyond the scope of guidance provided.
All students are strongly encouraged to continue learning about local culture and social practices independently, explore community resources, and actively engage in local events to enrich their experience.
